Earlier this week we ended up (per recommendation from the on-call nurse in our pediatrician's office) taking Owen to the emergency room with a high fever and a mean case of the fussy monsters.
Unnecessary drama? Perhaps, but with Owen's birth history and looming hydrocephalus concerns, we were told not to take any chances. I probably would have felt like the worst mommy on the face of the planet to have gone against their suggested course of action. Especially after she had me repeat back to her on the phone why she recommended we take Owen to the ER. Did I already use the word unnecessary in this paragraph?
Thankfully, it wasn't too painful of a trip and we were told it was only viral. Since then, his fever has been gone for a couple days now and he seems to be on the up & up. It is never, EVER fun to see your baby in so much discomfort, though.

You will be pleased to know that both Trapp boys have been happy and fed since our ER excursion. I wish I could say that we have all been happy and sleeping. Sleeping at the Trapp house these days as not been so dreamy. Owen has been waking up twice every night this month, but I don't blame him. If I had a tooth cutting through my gums and boogers all over my face, I wouldn't be too cozy either. Not to mention has slept in five different "cribs" this month through all of our travels.
We are about to stir the pot on him again, too, because speaking of double whammies...
We acquired some house guests today:
Also, in case you have been thinking I have been slacking on my summertime nest list, I am sad to report that the night our neighbors were to come over for dinner was the night we went to the emergency room. Booooooooo...
On the menu?
Bacon & Gouda stuffed pork chops
Sweet Potato fries
Arugula & mixed greens salad with lemon vinaigrette
Cheddar biscuits with garlic herb butter
Homemade peach pie ice cream for dessert.
A reschedule is in order for next week! : ) Until then, I will do my best to keep everyone as far away from the hospital as possible.
Wow... tough stuff.. I especially feel bad for John not getting chic-fil-a... What a bummer! May God provide lots of pizza, fried chicken, and redeemed pork chop nights for your family.. oh yea, and health for Owen. ;)
ReplyDeleteGlad that little O is ok! Bummer that he isn't being a good sleeper... Davis recently started waking up once a night, every night - I shouldn't complain, but I miss my full night of sleep!
