Home again, home again, jiggety jig

Indian Land, SC for a nice stay with my Aunt and Uncle....check

Charlotte, NC for some shopping fun with my cuz....check

Winston-Salem, NC for my 2nd cousin's wedding...check

Breckenridge, CO with the Greenawalt fam...check

Crested Butte, CO with the Trapp fam....check check and double check!

11 days, 5 flights, 3 pack n' plays, and far too many mountains, car rides and Praise Baby episodes to count, the Trapps are home!

We were gone a long time, we had a blast and I learned a few things along the way...
  • I'm better at taking blogging breaks than jogging breaks.
  • My brother can kick my tail on trail runs in the high altitude.
  • Speaking of high altitude, apparently Owen likes to poop on airplanes and mountain tops. Peace out poop schedule.
  • Owen is 5 for 6 on successful airplane flights. Don't ask me about the flight from Houston to Charlotte.
  • Actually, you can ask me. We watched a lot of Praise Baby. Praise Baby is the best thing on the planet. (I did, however, already know that).
  • Owen found a Praise Baby buddy in his cousin Grace.
  • Owen also acquired a few nicknames compliments of the Trapp cousins: "Oey" and "Owen head" are certainly winners.
  • Speaking of winning, the Trapp men may have actually had a chance at winning our Celebrity Bowl game had it not been for John's spastic impersonation of Vanna White in the charade round. I wish you could have seen it...
  • I also wish you could have seen the rainbow we saw in Crested Butte one evening. Definitely made me understand this guy a little more.
  • Another thing I understand a little better now? Reasons why you should not over-stuff a tiny washer at a rental house. That is, of course, unless you want the house alarm to go off and the water to be shut off. Oops.
  • Along the the lack of water, Colorado also brought a lack of cellphone reception, which proved to be simultaneously frustrating and refreshing.
  • Being without Starbucks for that long is, however, only frustrating.
  • But I have since been reunited with my Star-takeallofmy-bucks, and the Frappuccinos are feeling mighty fine on this sore throat of mine. Coming back from two weeks of vacation nearly always results in one of the Trapps getting sick. Looks like someone spun the wheel on my name this time.
  • Speaking of wheels, did I mention how awful John's impersonation of Vanna White was yet? :)
  • ...Not as awful as changing diapers in public restrooms is, though.
  • Despite all of the changing of diapers and locations while we were gone, Owen traveled like a pro.
  • I wish I could say the same for the rest of the Trapp family. One must expect the unexpected when traveling with the Trapps. I learned that going on an estimated 45 minute evening mission to spot 500 migrating elk will surely result in a near 3 hour trip in which no elk will be seen at all. What did we see? Dozens of cows blocking the road, some rain, some lightening, some darkness, some twists and turns, some crazy cliffs, a very unfortunate dead end, a near empty gas gauge in our car, an extremely misleading Garmin, a hitchhiker sitting in the backseat with Gigi and Owen, a porcupine, and 3 episodes of Praise Baby. No I'm not exaggerating...you just can't make this stuff up.
  • I do wish I could make whatever stuff up that goes inside of Mary's Mountain Cookies. Their Snickerdoodle cookies are the BEST.
  • And that concludes one of the BEST vacations we have had. We are sad it is over and loved being with family, but were missing home.
  • Guess what our little man was missing the most from home??
